Keeping Up With Reality Shows
We now live in a generation where all there is on television is reality shows. No matter what channel to flip to there is 90 percent chance that there will be a reality show. Most reality shows are about famous celebrities that love showing how they "really" are. In my opinion reality shows are nor good nor bad. For example you learn something from everything you watch. I remember the very first reality show I watched was Laguna Beach on MTV. The show followed a group of teenagers in high school from Laguna Beach. It showed all the drama and love triangles that "happen" in high school. Personally I loved the show but after finding out that it was scripted as well as the show that followed the main character from the first season of Laguna Beach, the Hills. I agree with the speaker from The Ted Talk video that reality shows are fun to watch, but I also believe that they are interesting to a certain extend. One thing that I dislike is that they give a show to people who say and do the dumbest things. For example, there is a new show on E! Network that follows around a group of adults in there mid 20's. The show is called "The Rich Kids of Beverly Hills." I have watched the show about twice and I have to say it is the most superficial show I have ever watched. I honestly believe that shows that leave no education whatsoever are pointless and most of the reality shows fall into that category. I personally believe that there are shows that are good and I have a lot of interest in watching them, but shows like the ones on MTV and E! I 'm not a big fan of.
